Journey Overview
Tanzania's two most recognisable experiences — the northern safari circuit and Zanzibar's Indian Ocean coast — sit within a two-hour flight of each other and combine naturally into an eleven-day journey. The safari delivers the wildlife, the plains, and the intensity of the bush. Zanzibar provides the decompression: white sand, warm water, a quieter pace, and the old Arab-African architecture of Stone Town. The combination works because each element is different enough that neither dilutes it.

Itinerary
Arrival — Arusha
Arrive Kilimanjaro International. Transfer and overnight in Arusha.
Arusha to Tarangire
Tarangire National Park
Drive to Tarangire. Afternoon game drive along the river corridor. The elephant density and baobab landscape make a strong and immediate first impression.
Full Day — Tarangire
Tarangire National Park
Full day. Southern sector morning, baobab groves in the afternoon. Birding strong throughout.
Tarangire to Ngorongoro Highlands
Ngorongoro Conservation Area
Drive to the Ngorongoro rim. Optional Lake Manyara stop en route. Arrive on the rim in the afternoon.
Full Day — Ngorongoro Crater
Full day on the crater floor. Black rhino, lion, hippo pools, flamingo. Picnic lunch. Return to the rim late afternoon.
Ngorongoro to Central Serengeti
Drive into the Serengeti. Olduvai Gorge optional. Afternoon game drive on arrival.
Full Day — Central Serengeti
Full day. Seronera Valley, kopje loops, open plains. Year-round predator activity.
Full Day — Serengeti
Second full Serengeti day. Different tracks, different areas. The park is large enough that two full days rarely cover the same ground.
Serengeti to Zanzibar
Zanzibar — Stone Town
Morning game drive, then fly from a Serengeti airstrip to Zanzibar via Arusha or direct. Arrive early afternoon. Transfer to your beach property.
Zanzibar — Beach & Stone Town
Zanzibar — Stone Town
Morning: Stone Town walking tour — the old Arab quarter, the former slave market site, the House of Wonders, and the narrow merchant streets. Two to three hours. Afternoon: beach. North coast (Nungwi, Kendwa) is swimmable year-round; east coast (Paje, Bwejuu) offers longer, quieter beaches.
Zanzibar — Departure
Zanzibar — Stone Town
Final morning at the beach. Fly from Zanzibar for onward connections. Direct flights operate to London Gatwick, Amsterdam, Zurich, and Istanbul.
